Intensive Course Description: Learn the science of Ayurvedic History Taking . Practice the skills of Physical Observation and Examination. Understand how to evaluate mind-body constitution (Prakruti) & Imbalance (Vikruti). Learn how to design individualised Ayurvedic treatment plans consisting of customized natural diet plans, healing herbal and nutritional supplements, detoxification by the Pancha Karma cleansing therapy, Rasayana rejuvenation therapy, Ayurvedic daily and seasonal routines for disease prevention. Pancha Karma Therapist Certification - 3 Months Training
Pancha Karma is a series of highly specialised natural cleansing and rejuvenation therapies. It is healing in diseases and wellness promoting in healthy individuals. Accumulation of toxins creates weakness in body tissues and sluggishness of mental functions. These imbalances can cause serious diseases and degeneration. Pancha Karma can reverse the disease process and reestablish the balance of body and mind by effectively eliminating the accumulated toxins. Pancha Karma Therapies include cleansing diet, mild fast, herbal oil Abhyanga massage & Shirodhara (Snehan), herbal sauna (Swedan), gentle laxatives (Virechana), enema / colon cleansing (Basti) and nasal drops (Nasya) and other traditional Ayurvedic procedures.

Yoga Teacher Training Courses: Level 1 thru 5

What is Yoga? How will Yoga Teacher Training help me?
Yoga is a Sanskrit language word which means union. Yoga helps us in uniting or integrating our body, mind and soul. It teaches us various methods of improving our physical, mental and spiritual health and wellness. These various methods of Yoga include physical postures called "Asana", breathing exercises called "Pranayama", relaxation and focusing exercises called "Dhyann or Meditation". Yoga has become very popular among those who are interested in natural methods for complete health and happiness.

Many Yoga classes focus only on exercise or fitness aspect of Yoga. We will teach you how to use Yoga postures (Asana) for improving your health and for preventing diseases. We will help you to understand how various postures work on various organs and functions of your body and mind. You will also learn the health benefits of Pranayama breathing and Dhyaan or meditation. By completing Yoga Teacher Training, you can help yourself, your family and friends in preventing various health problems and enhancing vitality. After graduation, as a Yoga Teacher, you can train others in these health and wellness routines.

Yoga Level 1 Certificate - 50 hours
In this introductory course, you will learn the basics of Yoga. You will understand what Yoga is and its origin. You will learn about 8 steps of Yoga. Most important part is the Do's and Don'ts of Yoga Asana (postures) and Pranayama (breathing exercises). The practical training will include Warm up exercises. Detailed training of the Surya Namaskar (Sun Salute) sequence and it's health benefits. You will also train in basic Standing, Sitting and Lying down Yoga Asanas (postures). Finally, you will learnbasic Pranayama (breathing exercises).

Yoga Course Level 2 Certificate - 50 hours
This level mainly consists of regular practice of Asanas and Pranayama learned in Level 1. This also includes learning how to teach all the routines of a Level 1 Yoga class. Graduates of this level can teach Yoga Courses level 1 and 2.

Yoga Level 3 & 4 Courses in Goa, India - November 21 -30, 200

Level 3 & 4 Courses will include intermediary level of Asanas (postures) and Pranayama. You will learn how to evaluate your Ayurvedic Body types and how to select Asanas and Pranayamas for your ttype. After completing level 3 and 4 the graduates can train and certify instructors to teach Doctor's Yoga Courses level 1 and 2.

Dr. Vivek Shanbhag, ND(USA), MD(Ayu), BAMS, CYED & Gayathri Shanbhag, MS

Dr. Shanbhag is a renowned Ayurvedic physician, professor, researcher and author. He is the Founder and Director of GAYA-THRI (Goa Ayurveda & Yoga Academy and Total Health Resort, India). He is a faculty member of Bastyr University in Seattle, USA and MMI College of Ayurvedic in San Francisco, USA and MMI College of Ayurveda in San Francisco, USA. He is a member of the Board of Directors of National Ayurvedic Medicine Association, USA, and Light on Ayurveda Journal. He is also a Faculty Member and Advisor for Japan Ayurveda Association, Tokyo, Japan. He is the author of Beginner's Introduction to Ayurveda by Keats Publishing. In 1988, Dr. Shanbhag was awarded the prestigious I.I.M. Gold Medal for his MD(Ayurved) Research Thesis. Recently, in March 2008, International Academy of Ayurveda Physicians honored him with Vishwa Ayurveda Ratna Award.

His clinical, teaching and research expereince spans over 28 years. During 1989 thru 2006, for 17 years, he was the founder & Director of the AYU Ayurvedic Wellness Center - Academy, Clinic & Spa in Seattle, USA. During 1991 -96, he was the Chairman of the Ayurvedic Medicine Department at Bastyr University, Seattle. During 1985-88 he was the Head of the Institute of Research in Ayurvedic Medicine, Poona, India. Dr. Shanbhag's 16 years of Ayurvedic, Naturapathic & Yoga training includes 5 1/2 years BAMS at Karnataka University , 4 1/2 years MD (Ayurved) at Poona University, 4 years ND at Bastyr University and 2 years Certified Yoga Teacher Training at Karnataka University.

Gayathri Shanbhag, MS is a consultant in Ayurvedic Nutrition & Diet Therapy. She graduated with a Masters in Nutrition from the Bastyr University. Gayathri teaches Nutrition and Cooking courses at Goa Ayurveda & Yoga Academy. Currently she is working on her " Ayurvedic Wellness Cookbook".
